How do local authorities, ALMO’s and housing associations ensure they are delivering their priorities and business plans whilst meeting increasing housing needs?
How do we create a flexible and fair way of allocating homes in today’s challenging climate?
How are organisations developing solutions in their local areas?
Housing is high on the national agenda. However, many policy and financial changes are placing strain and tensions on models for allocating homes and the
relationship between local authorities, ALMO’s and housing associations. Housing providers are currently grappling with:
- The reducing supply of traditional ‘social’ housing in favour of ‘affordable rents’;
- The pressure on business plans due to the social housing rent reduction and welfare reforms;
- The increase in the use of the private rented sector and other tenure models;
- The upcoming homelessness reduction duties on local authorities.
